Traffic Advisory: Construction on Campus Drive
Durham, NC - Motorists traveling along Campus Drive may experience delays between Dec. 17 and Jan. 4.
During the university's winter break, Facilities Management will begin the process of installing and replacing water line piping along a quarter-mile stretch of Campus Drive between the Route 147 overpass and the West Duke Building. While construction takes place, traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Stephen Carrow, project manager for Facilities, said weather permitting, work will only take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. He added that in the case of inclement weather, there is a possibility weekend work will be performed on an as-needed basis. During work hours, crews will be on hand to direct traffic.
"With students gone, the Duke bus schedule reduced and many folks taking time off around Christmas and New Year's, it seemed like an ideal time to get the work done," Carrow said.
