Duke in Pics: Music on the Quad
Several thousand employees attended the "Music on the Quad" event to celebrate faculty and staff at Duke on May 18. The Tim Smith Band offered live music, including Caribbean-inspired music for a Zumba demonstration by Erica Dixon (pictured above).
This year the celebration included soft pretzels and funnel cake in addition to the traditional ice cream. Employees could also receive a chair massage, have a caricature drawn, or enjoy the sleight of hand of a magician.
"There seemed to be a lot more things to do this year," said Andrea Bazakas, a clinical trials assistant III in the Department of Dermatology who attended with several of her colleagues. "I didn't know that there would be a chair massage, but it was well worth standing in line for."
