Duke In Pictures: Tree Campus USA Celebration
Durham, NC -
Above, members of Duke's Facilities Management Department plant a new Willow Oak tree on East Campus along with volunteers from the Duke and Durham community. The planting was one of several taking place April 6 as part of Duke's recognition as a "Tree Campus USA" by the Arbor Day Foundation. It's the fourth-straight year Duke has been given the Tree Campus USA title. Duke is among 116 colleges and universities nationwide named to the 2011 list that includes a total of five North Carolina colleges.
Below, Roger Conner, left, superintendent for Duke Grounds, and Durham County Forest Ranger George Brown, present a Tree Campus USA plaque to John Noonan, vice president of facilities.
