Duke Kunshan University Now Hiring

Recruitment begins for senior academic and administration positions at DKU

Recruitment is now under way for several senior positions at
Duke Kunshan University (DKU), a new joint venture university created in
partnership with Wuhan University and the city of Kunshan, China.  Searches are now in progress for the vice chancellor,
who will serve as DKU's chief academic and administrative officer, as well as
for the directors of human resources and finance.

A six-person faculty committee led by Jeff Vincent, Clarence
F. Korstian Professor of Forest Economics and Management and chair of Duke's
Global Priorities Committee, is conducting the search for the vice chancellor
position.

"The vice chancellor will have broad responsibilities
for developing and implementing world-class academic programs at DKU,"
Vincent said.  "The search committee
is looking worldwide for highly qualified candidates who have outstanding
scholarly and administrative achievements in a research university setting."

The vice chancellor will be tasked with developing and
delivering degree and non-degree academic programs, providing administrative
oversight for all academic functions of DKU, recruiting faculty and students, and
overseeing fund raising for DKU.

"The
vice chancellor is the key leadership position at DKU. It calls for a person of
great intellectual and administrative talent and global vision," said Duke
Provost Peter Lange. "The vice chancellor and the team he or she leads
will provide critical leadership as DKU develops and will also be central to
our efforts to building the faculty and student contributions to DKU from the
Duke campus."

Candidates for the director of human resources and finance
positions are also being recruited on an international scale.  Both positions will require expertise in
Chinese and U.S. business practices, as well as fluency in English and
Mandarin.

Kyle Cavanaugh, Duke's vice president for administration, is
working with partners from Wuhan and Kunshan to manage the HR and finance
searches. "The establishment of DKU is analogous to a new start up
organization, and we're looking for candidates who not only have outstanding
professional qualifications, but who also embrace the entrepreneurial spirit of
a new, cross-cultural venture like DKU," Cavanaugh said.

Job descriptions for each of the positions are available at www.dkuemployment.com.
