Hundreds of Duke students, employees and community members snatched up Duke sports gear over the weekend during the first Duke Athletics Surplus Sale Friday and Saturday.
With Duke fans showing up early on Friday, the sale was sold out two hours early on Saturday. Clothing from brands such as Asics, Adidas, Nike and New Balance were all on sale.
More than 8,600 authentic Duke items were sold, including more than 3,800 T-shirts, 700 jerseys and 380 pairs of sneakers and cleats. In all, more than $80,000 was raised to support Duke Athletics by selling the clothing and shoes. More than 500 polo shirts and 450 winter scarves were also sold during the event.
