Len Elmore has been in the public eye for over 30 years, first as an All-America basketball player and NBA star, later as a successful attorney and ESPN basketball commentator. Elmore recently discussed his life and career in a talk to students at Duke law school. In these excerpts, he recounts his move from the public prosecutor's office in Brooklyn, N.Y., to a large private law firm, and then to the field of sports representation; his introduction to the world of sports broadcasting; and his work with the Knight Commission, which seeks to improve the state of college athletics.
