Le Journal de Mickey
April 1940 - American comics, such as the Le Journal de Mickey, were popular
around the time of the German invasion in May of 1940; domestic comics were
popular too. At least 15 comics were being published at the time of the
invasion, most from Paris. The publisher of Le Journal de Mickey fled to Vichy-
controlled Marseille shortly after Germany occupied Paris in June of 1940. It
eventually stopped publication in 1944. The comic was licensed from Walt Disney
by a French company.
