Duke Announces 43 New Merit Scholars for the Class of 2030

Duke’s Office of University Scholars and Fellows (OUSF) is proud to announce that 43 incoming students have been awarded a Duke institutional merit scholarship.

These students in Duke’s Class of 2030 join six different merit scholarship programs and the vibrant community of engaged student leaders in OUSF. Each scholarship program is led by a dedicated faculty director who supports scholars through mentorship, advising, and specialized programming. OUSF also brings scholars together across programs through shared events and opportunities that encourage connection and collaboration.

“We are thrilled to welcome 43 new merit scholars to Duke’s Class of 2030,” shared Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education for Student Success, Dr. Kimberly Bethea. “In addition to being academically exceptional, these students are also ambitious, imaginative, and eager to explore new ideas and drive innovation. We are honored that they selected Duke to begin this next chapter of their lives.”

These merit scholarships provide full funding for the undergraduate cost of attendance for four years of full-time study. Scholars also receive access to enrichment funding that can be used to pursue a wide range of academic and professional opportunities, including research projects, conference participation, and domestic or international experiential learning programs during both the academic year and summer months.

The incoming students include 33 domestic students from 15 U.S. states, as well as 10 international students from 10 countries.
