Trustees Continue Discussion of Duke Science and Technology (DST) 2.0

Highlights of the December session included discussion of Duke’s vision for leadership in AI and Duke’s strategic advantage in AI for research, education and public engagement. In addition, the session featured a panel discussion with current undergraduate students whose exposure to computing and AI at Duke are preparing them to become future leaders in AI.

In other business, the board:

  • Welcomed new trustee observer Jax Nalley.
  • Welcomed Deborah Rutter, vice provost for the arts.
  • Was briefed on the latest developments in Athletics and Duke Community Affairs.
  • Received updates on Duke’s global strategy, including Duke Kunshan University. 
  • Approved recommendations from the board’s standing committees.
