Tell Us the ‘Why’ Behind Your Work at Duke

In 50 words or less, staff and faculty are invited to share the reason their work matters to celebrate the purpose that connects us all

Every day, up to 48,000 Duke staff and faculty bring purpose to life, caring for patients, teaching students, driving discovery and keeping the university and health system running.

Working@Duke wants to showcase the meaning behind the work you do. In 50 words or fewer, share your “why” – what drives you and the reason your work matters to you. Together, these “Tiny Stories” will highlight the values we share and celebrate the community we’re building at Duke.

To show our appreciation, participants will be entered into a drawing for a meaningful Duke memento from Duke Stores, just a small way to say thank you for sharing your “why.” Share your story by Oct. 10, 2025.
