Call for Nominations: 2026 Samuel DuBois Cook Awards

The Samuel DuBois Cook Awards Selection Committee invites nominations of Duke staff, administrators, faculty, and students (undergraduate, graduate or professional). One faculty member will be selected for the Raymond Gavins Distinguished Faculty Award. In addition, one staff member, one undergraduate student and one professional/graduate student will be selected for a Cook Society Award. 

The committee seeks members of the Duke community who embody the spirit of Dr. Cook's vision through:

  • Actively nurturing a sense of community and belonging.
  • Dedication to leadership and social activism.
  • Fostering positive and constructive interpersonal and intergroup dynamics between Duke and Durham.
  • Cultivating positive relationships on the basis of an enlightened appreciation and knowledge of our historic interdependence.

Nominations are due in this form by Friday, October 24. Winners will be notified the week of November 10. Awards will be presented during the annual Cook Awards Ceremony on February 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in Penn Pavilion.
