Christoph Guttentag has led Duke Undergraduate Admissions since 1992.

Christoph Guttentag, dean of undergraduate admissions, retired in June 2025 after more than 30 years of service to Duke.

Guttentag has led Duke’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions since 1992. Under his leadership, Duke experienced significant and unprecedented growth in applicants for each incoming class.

For the class of 2029, Duke received more than 58,000 applications, underscoring the critical work done by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Kathy Phillips, associate dean of undergraduate admissions, will lead the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in an interim capacity.
