Provost Alec Gallimore has appointed a committee to lead the search for Duke University’s next vice provost for the arts. The position description is located on the website of the Office of the Provost.
John Brown, who has served in the role since 2020, will step down on June 30 to return to the faculty.
The search committee will be chaired by Paul Jaskot, Professor of Art, Art History & Visual Studies. Other members of the committee are:
- Torry Bend, Professor of the Practice of Theater Studies
- Thomas Brothers, Professor of Music
- Iyun Harrison, Associate Professor of the Practice of Dance
- Adam Klein, Associate Vice President for Economic Development
- Iris Padilla, Associate Clinical Professor, and Presidential Fellow
- Tom Rankin, Professor of the Practice of Art, Art History and Visual Studies, and Director of the Master of Fine Arts in Experimental and Documentary Arts
- Joseph Salem, Rita DiGiallonardo Holloway University Librarian, and Vice Provost for Library Affairs
- Trevor Schoonmaker, Mary D.B.T. and James H. Semans Director, Nasher Museum of Art
- John Supko, Associate Professor of Music
The provost has charged the committee with conducting a national search to identify a highly diverse and qualified pool of candidates for the position.
