Duke’s Campus Shows Off Its Spring Glory

Duke Gardens was in peak spring form last week, but there were plenty of other places around campus to find the reds, yellows, whites and purples of early blooms. While the tulips and other plants took center stage in the Duke Gardens Terrace Garden, visitors sitting outside Duke Libraries’ Von der Heyden Pavilion also took in seasonal smells and sights of blooming trees.

On West Campus, pedestrians enjoyed a variety of blooms at the main campus entrance and in the traffic circle, while cherries provided a spring “snowstorm” whenever the wind picked up.

By the end of last week, the ‘Akebono’ cherry trees had lost their blooms, but other tree and plant species in other areas of the Gardens are still exploding in color. For what’s currently in bloom, visit the Gardens website.
