Duke Health Seeks Volunteers to Assist 2025 MaryAnn Black Summer Internship Program
This is Duke University Health System’s 10th year hosting high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in health care. The MaryAnn Black Summer Internship Program honors MaryAnn Black and her vision to open doors and inspire the youth of today to become our health care leaders of tomorrow.
The program will be a hybrid version with students attending in person half of the days and virtually the remainder. The students will learn about many of the health care careers that make up the fabric of Duke. This year, the program will run from 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 7-25.
Program organizers are now seeking volunteers to serve as virtual presenters; virtual proctors; or in-person volunteers. The success of the program depends on the work of these volunteers.
In addition to learning about dozens of health care specialties from our volunteers, the student’s will receive general test taking skills training, office and dining etiquette training, and will be able to tour and get hands on experience while visiting areas in the schools of medicine and nursing and other campus locations. The students will receive a stipend after successfully completing the program.
To volunteer, sign up on this Duke Qualtrics form to set up a 15 minute virtual meeting with an organizer who will answer any questions. For more information, contact Darla Wohlfarth of DUHS Community Health.
