Trustees Continue Discussion of Duke’s Global Strategy, Approve Campaign
At its quarterly meeting, the Duke University Board of Trustees held the second session of a year-long program of engagement focused on Duke’s global strategy. The goal for the discussions is to refine the approach for leveraging Duke’s existing global assets to advance Duke’s strategic priorities and address major global challenges such as climate change, global health, and sustainable economic development. Students, faculty and administrators are participating alongside trustees in the year-long program.
Highlights of the December session included a presentation of the global landscape and a panel discussion featuring internal and external experts on climate and sustainable economic development.
In other business, the board:
Approved a new comprehensive campaign;
Discussed post-election implications for higher education and Duke;
Discussed Duke’s commitments to advancing racial and social equity;
Received updates on the Duke University Health System and Duke Kunshan University; and
Approved recommendations from the board’s standing committees.
