The Duke Centennial: A Year to Remember

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Duke and a year of celebration, historic reflection and achievement that will take the university into its second century.  A short video takes a look back at a once in a century celebration.

Duke University was established in 1924 when James B. Duke, through the Indenture of Trust, designated a gift that transformed Trinity College into a comprehensive research university. In January 2024, Duke University launched a celebration of its centennial—a historic opportunity to recognize Duke’s extraordinary past, communicate the impact of the present and look toward the potential of Duke’s future.
