Four Gyms Added to Employee Wellness Discount Program
With the additions, staff and faculty have access to 15 facilities offering discounted membership rates
When BodyGames was added to Duke Fitness Club’s offerings a few months ago, Rosa quickly signed up for her membership through LIVE FOR LIFE, Duke’s employee wellness program. LIVE FOR LIFE manages the enrollment process for facilities that are part of the Duke Fitness Club and coordinates payroll deduction for membership fees.
In addition to The BodyGames Center, three other gyms have been added to Duke Fitness Club, bringing the total facility number to 15 serving about 5,000 people registered through Duke, LIVE FOR LIFE Fitness Manager LeAnna Johnson said. Other new Duke Fitness Club facilities include Clubworx in Fuqua-Varina, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Durham and two Durham locations of the Orangetheory Fitness franchise.
Each facility offers a discount on membership fees and is available to Duke University and Health System staff and faculty, retirees and their spouses or same-sex partners and dependents.
For Rosa, attending classes at BodyGames is made easier when she can bring her 8- and 5-year-old children to child care at the facility. She especially loves popping in for Zumba classes on weekends because she said it brings her “joy.”
“Having regular exercise and having it be part of my life has helped with my overall mental health and well-being in a way that's pretty measurable,” Rosa said. “I have really just loved it. I've stuck with it, and it's been a big force of change in my life.”
