Committee Named to Lead Search for New Nursing School Dean

Provost Alec D. Gallimore has appointed a committee to lead the search for Duke University’s next dean of the School of Nursing.
The new dean will succeed Vincent Guilamo-Ramos, who stepped down Oct. 1, 2023. Michael Relf, a faculty member since 2008 who previously served as associate dean for global and community health initiatives, is leading the school in an interim capacity.
The search committee will be chaired by Tonia Poteat, professor in the School of Nursing. Other members of the committee are:

- Mariam Kayle, Associate Professor, School of Nursing;
- Debra Mattice, Director, Academic Support Operations, School of Nursing;
- Jacquelyn McMillian-Bohler, Associate Dean for Academic Innovation and Evaluation and Assistant Clinical Professor, School of Nursing;
- Tolulope Oyesanya, Associate Professor, School of Nursing;
- Karin Reuter-Rice, Associate Professor, School of Nursing;
- David Ridley, Professor of the Practice of Business Administration, Fuqua School of Business;
- Glenn Setliff, Interim Vice Dean, Information Technology & Facilities, School of Nursing;
- Jill Sergison, Student, School of Nursing;
- Benjamin Smallheer, Assistant Dean, Master of Science in Nursing Program and Associate Clinical Professor, School of Nursing;
- Kevin Thomas, Director of Faculty Affairs, School of Nursing;
- Julia Walker, Helene Fuld Health Trust Distinguished Professor of Nursing and Professor in Medicine, School of Medicine; and
- Michelle Webb, Assistant Clinical Professor, School of Nursing.
The provost has charged the committee with conducting a thorough search to identify a diverse pool of candidates for the position. Executive search firm Issacson, Miller will support the committee.
