We’re trying to bring awareness to ASL as a language that is completely separate from English, as well as awareness of its importance linguistically.

Club leaders said that they hold their annual event on the quad to show visibility and interest to Duke and to people watching that Duke students want to learn ASL.

The event was part of ASL Awareness Week, which included presentations, discussions and documentary showings.
