The Rare Bamboo Blooms in Duke Gardens, From an Aerial View
A rare blackstem bamboo blossom has emerged at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, but it may be hard to catch from the ground without binoculars. This drone footage over the 20-foot-tall bamboo provides a bird’s eye view of the blooms, which are appearing for the first time ever in the Gardens. The flowers aren’t showy and lack colorful petals, but you can distinctly see the abundant collection of long, pointed green petals across the top of the canopy.
The footage was taken with a university-sanctioned drone shoot. Drone flights are otherwise prohibited in the Gardens.
