Said@Duke: University of Delhi Professor Rekha Sethi on Women Poets Writing in Hindi

The Duke India Initiative and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies jointly organized the talk this week, "Words and Silences A Discussion on Contemporary Women Poets in Hindi." Guest speaker Rekha Sethi, a professor and researcher at the University of Delhi. She spoke about contemporary women poets writing in Hindi, a predominant Indian language, to help address questions including whether women's writing can be read as a separate category or not? How far is their poetry influenced by their gender? What are the interconnections between gender and literature? What are the varied tropes of their feminism?
