ACIR to Hold Open Forum on Investment Responsibility at Duke, Oct. 25
Duke community members are invited to attend the annual forum hosted by the Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility (ACIR) to learn more about the committee’s work and to bring forward issues of societal concern related to the investment of the university’s assets. The virtual forum will be held from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, on Zoom.
Registration is required on the ACIR website. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions beforehand via email to submitACIR@duke.edu.
Participants will also have an opportunity to share suggestions concerning university investments and social responsibility at the forum, if time permits.
The ACIR advises President Vincent Price and the Executive Vice President on social responsibility issues related to endowment investments. In recent years, ACIR has made recommendations on “conflict minerals,” Darfur, fossil fuels and transparency of endowment holdings. The committee’s reports can be found on the Documents page of the ACIR website.
The Office of Climate and Sustainability is also hosting a nine-session seminar series over the course of the 2023-24 academic year to bring together faculty, students, staff and others to consider key questions related to connecting the university’s long-term investing to its mission. However, this seminar is not a replacement for the Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility and no recommendations will be forthcoming from the series.
