Said@Duke: Shannon Speed on the Role of Trauma and Emotion in Anthropological Research

Shannon Speed (Chickasaw) is chair and professor of American Indian Studies, Gender Studies and Anthropology at UCLA. Based on her years of research with Indigenous women migrants, her talk this week explored the role of trauma and emotion in anthropological research. Speed is also director of the American Indian Studies Center and Special Advisor to the Chancellor on Native American and Indigenous Affairs.
