Duke Parking Permit Rates for 2023-24
In addition to monthly permits, daily and multi-day permits are available
Parking permits will see a change in rates in 2023-24 to continue to help cover enhanced parking facilities and technology.
Beginning in August 2023, rates will increase between 50 cents and $5.75 per month, depending on permit type.
For staff and faculty permit holders who pay for permits through payroll deduction, no action is needed on your part. Your multi-year permit will automatically renew, rate updates will be applied, and the subsidy program will continue for eligible employees.
For the new permit year, Duke will continue to offer the subsidized parking permit program that was introduced in February 2023. As part of the program, subsidized parking permits will be offered for Duke University and Duke University Health System staff and faculty making below a certain annual pay threshold. That threshold will increase from $80,000 to $83,200 beginning with the new permit year on Aug. 15, 2023. All other aspects of the program will remain unchanged.
Duke community members who do not wish to keep their annual permit must return it to opt-out of their permit. The permit can be returned to the Parking & Transportation offices by mail or in-person.
Duke community members who are not eligible for payroll deduction or have one-year permits must renew. Forms, available online, must be completed and delivered to one of the parking offices by end of July to ensure delivery of new permits before mid-August.
With some staff and faculty working some days from home each week, an annual parking permit may not fit the needs of employees with hybrid schedules. To offer options, Parking & Transportation Services sells single and multi-day passes that may provide a cost savings, depending on how often employees come to campus to work.
Staff and faculty considering a move to an as-needed permit should first review their work situation to determine what makes the most sense financially.
Single and multi-day passes can be purchased online within six days of use on campus. After purchase, a QR code sent by email can be printed or scanned from a mobile device at the lot entrance.
All permit holders are encouraged to “check their parking account" to update vehicle information and review or complete the deduction authorization agreement.
