The AIMBE College of Fellows recognizes scientists who have made outstanding contributions to "engineering and medicine research, practice, or education” and to "the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of medical and biological engineering or developing/implementing innovative approaches to bioengineering education."

AIMBE is a non-profit professional organization that advocates for the value of medical and biological engineering to society. Its mission is to recognize excellence, advance public understanding, and accelerate medical and biological innovation, in part through working with U.S. and state government agencies.

A formal induction ceremony was held during the annual AIMBE event in Arlington, VA on March 27, 2023. Dr. Dzirasa joins a group of more than 2000 AIMBE Fellows, which includes 3 Nobel Prize laureates.
