2015 featured a 15th ranked UNC team visiting a 4th ranked Duke team in a game that ended in a Duke overtime win, 92 to 90. Duke went on to win the national championship.

More Than The Game

The 258th game is a meeting of the old and the new

The first Duke / UNC basketball game, in 1920, sparked one of the most famous sports rivalries in the world. Twice a year (sometimes three) the teams play. Often for positioning as leader in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Many times on a national championship journey. Always for pride.

But history has shown that it is about more than the game.

In many ways, not a lot has changed over the years as students go all-in, typified by the iconic "tenting" for game tickets and the game day body painting.

The Coach

After four years as a Duke player, including playing for the 2010 national championship team, three seasons playing professionally, and nine seasons assisting Coach Mike Krzyzewski, including with the 2015 national championship team, Jon Scheyer leads the Blue Devils this year as its 21st head coach.
