Becca Ward was named Ronald McDonald House Duke
Student-Athlete of the Week after posting a perfect 15-0 record at the Duke
Fencing Home Meet in Card Gym, improving her season record to 69-1.
Ward, a two-time NCAA Champion who
is 260-7 in her four-year career, swept all three opponents she faced including
the three sabers from defending NCAA Champion and top-ranked Penn State. Behind
her perfect 15-0 score, Duke's sabers led all teams at the meet in victories
and secured the Duke Home Meet's Saber Cup.
The Duke women are 22-4 overall on
the season and have already set the school's single-season wins record.
Ward and the Blue Devils will compete at the Junior Olympics this Friday through Monday in Dallas, Texas.
