More than a thousand Blue Devils convened on the Duke’s campus Sept. 18-19 for the university’s annual Homecoming Weekend.
The event offered opportunities for friends to reunite, family to experience the campus turning over to the fall season and a 35-7 football win over Stanford University.
In addition, Duke Alumni Engagement and Development hosted a tailgate for alumni and friends near Krzyzewskiville; an awards ceremony honored 56 alumni and parent volunteers.
The university also held several educational sessions featuring Duke faculty speaking on a wide range topics: the future of public use data, computational methods for creating music, academic freedom in the humanities and more. Well-loved Duke spots welcomed visitors for free open houses, including the Nasher Museum of Art, the Duke Lemur Center and various homes of religious life.
The Mary Duke Biddle Music Building hosted Biddle Community Day a free, family-friendly celebration featuring open rehearsals and interactive music workshops, while Duke students took music to West Campus’ Abele Quad through live performances.
New to this year’s event was a Duke-themed golf cart offering free rides to alumni and friends across campus. The catch? Passengers had to play a surprise, rapid-fire game of “This or That” along the ride, making the sometimes difficult choices between favorite Duke spots.
