Oct. 3 – Duke Symphony Orchestra 100th Anniversary Gala Concert

Oct. 6 – An Evening with Fran Lebowitz
For decades, author, humorist and cultural critic Fran Lebowitz has occupied a singular place in American cultural life. Renowned for her razor-sharp wit, unsparing observations and deeply original perspective, she has earned a following as one of the country’s most distinctive commentators on contemporary society. Hear a special conversation with her at 7 p.m. at Page Auditorium as part of mosaic, a partnership with Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and Duke Arts.

Oct. 18 – Sarah P. Duke Gardens’ Harvest Festival
Celebrate autumn with a festival of activities, music, demonstrations and more from 1-4 p.m., led by Duke Gardens and other local groups in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden. The free, drop-in festival will include activities for adults and children.

Oct. 29 – Thursdays at the Nasher: Costume Silent Disco
Get your groove on during a silent disco costume party where art comes to life. Honor the Nasher Museum of Art’s “Everything Now All At Once” exhibit by dressing as a favorite artist or art piece from the collection and dance through the night – with headphones on. The Nasher encourages you to “come ready to vibe,” as you enjoy the art and collect some candy.

Oct. 31 – Duke University Chorale: Chorale-O-Ween Celebration
The Duke University Chorale celebrates “Chorale-O-Ween” with an afternoon of music at Baldwin Auditorium that honors Día de los Muertos and the choral heritage of Mexico. The Duke Chorale, the primary choral group of the Department of Music at Duke, will be joined by Mariachi Toro de Duke, Son de Carolina and special guest Sophia Enríquez for a celebration of remembrance, tradition and community told through voices, instruments and shared musical traditions.
