Duke OIT’s tech training series returns Sept. 2 with seven live webinars on AI, productivity, accessibility and everyday tech tools

Learn IT @ Lunch, a series of expert-led lunchtime webinars organized by Duke’s Office of Information Technology, returns this fall with seven Zoom-based sessions designed to answer questions posed by Duke staff and faculty.

The sessions are open to Duke staff, faculty and students and take place at noon on select Wednesdays beginning Sept. 2 through Dec. 2.

“The topics for this fall were drawn directly from what people said they were interested in,” said Duke OIT Training & Education Practitioner Trina Rodriguez, who surveyed past webinar attendees to hear what topics they’d like to see covered.

Rodriguez said that AI was a topic many respondents wanted to learn more about. As a result, AI is the subject of several sessions, including the kickoff webinar on Sept. 2. Titled “AI Beyond the Chatbot,” the session will be led by Duke OIT’s Evangelist for AI and Automation Drew Stinnett and will explore ways Duke teams have used AI in innovative ways and how people can use it to help day-to-day work.

Other AI-focused topics include how to harness the technology to improve productivity (Oct. 14), how to use it to design and refine PowerPoint slides (Nov. 18) and how to use AI responsibly (Dec. 2).

In addition to AI, sessions will cover tech tools designed to improve communications (Oct. 28), helpful time management habits (Nov. 11) and a session featuring stories and tips about accessibility from colleagues with visual, hearing and other impairments (Sept. 16).
