Duke Parking Permit Rates Adjust for 2026-27

In addition to monthly permits, daily and multi-day permits are available

Parking permits will see a change in rates in 2026-27 to continue to help cover capital improvements, technology enhancements and general maintenance and utilities.

Beginning Aug. 16, 2026, rates will increase between 25 cents and $6.50 per month, depending on garage or parking lot assignment. See the following link for current and new rates.

For the new permit year, Duke will continue to offer the subsidized parking permit program that was introduced in 2023. As part of the program, a parking permit subsidy of $30 per month will be offered for Duke University and Duke University Health System staff and faculty making $86,500 or below the annual pay threshold.

For staff and faculty permit holders who pay for permits through payroll deduction, no action is required. If you already have a valid permit, you will not receive a new permit hang tag. If you currently receive the parking subsidy and remain eligible, it will continue to be applied to your account automatically. Please confirm that your permanent U.S. home address is correct in the MyInfo tab at work.duke.edu, as this is the address we have on file. You should also review and update your vehicle information in My Parking Account if needed.

Duke community members who do not wish to keep their annual permit must return it to opt-out of their permit. The permit can be returned to the Parking & Transportation offices by mail or in-person.

Duke community members who are not eligible for payroll deduction or have one-year permits must renew. Forms, available online, must be completed and delivered to one of the parking offices by end of July to ensure delivery of new permits before mid-August.

With staff and faculty working from home, an annual parking permit may not fit the needs of employees with hybrid schedules. Parking & Transportation Services sells daily or occasional multi-day passes that grant access to 10 parking locations on campus. Options include a $11 single-day pass or $27 multi-day pass for university staff, faculty and graduate and professional students.

Single and multi-day passes can be purchased online within six days of use on campus. After purchase, a QR code sent by email can be printed or scanned from a mobile device at the lot entrance.

Staff and faculty considering a move to an as-needed permit should first review their work situation to determine what makes the most sense financially, but if work calls for being on campus three or more times per week, an annual parking permit is more cost-effective.

Payment Methods

Payroll deduction: Permit fees are deducted on a pre-tax basis when full-time staff and faculty pay through payroll deduction. Please email us at tranpark@duke.edu or call our office at 919 684-7275 to discuss available permits and how to order them.

Duke community members who are not eligible for payroll deduction or have one-year permits must renew using one of these methods by August 1 to ensure delivery of new permits before mid-August:

  • Check: Mail the renewal form and check to Parking and Transportation Services, 302 Science Drive, Box # 90644, Durham, NC 27708-0644.
  • Credit Card: Bring the renewal form to a Parking and Transportation Services location.
