Eighteen Duke Students and Alumni Offered Fulbright for 2026-2027

Eighteen Duke students and alumni have been offered a Fulbright grant for the 2026-2027 year. Through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, they will pursue independent research projects, enroll in graduate study, or work as an English teaching assistant in 12 different countries. 

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is a world-renowned international education program, designed to facilitate cultural exchange and increase mutual understanding between the United States and more than 140 different countries around the world. 

Dr. Lee Baker, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, shared “The Fulbright experience changes not only how students see the world, but how they see their place in it. We are proud of these Duke recipients and the impact they will make across the globe.”

Recipients include: 

  • Chinelo Agwuegbo ’26.  A chemistry major from Somerset, N.J., Chinelo was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to Luxembourg. 
  • Claire Andreasen ’26. An electrical and computer engineering and physics major from Newark, Del., Claire was offered a research grant to conduct solar battery research in Lausanne, Switzerland. 
  • Ellie Armstrong ’26. An international and comparative studies and psychology major from Huntley, Ill., Ellie was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to the Canary Islands, Spain. 
  • Isabella DiMeo ’25. A classical civilizations and political science major from Oyster Bay, N.Y., DeMeo was offered a Fulbright/America for Bulgaria Foundation English Teaching Assistantship grant to Bulgaria. 
  • Jadelyn Ding ’26. An evolutionary anthropology and biology major from State College, Pa., Jadelyn was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to New Taipei City, Taiwan. 
  • Elizabeth Glazer ’26. A Marine Science and Conservation and Neuroscience major from Boston, MA, Elizabeth was offered a research grant to continue her research on cetacean behavior in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. 
  • Grace Hall, ’30. Currently a doctoral student in the department of Earth and Climate Sciences, Grace received her bachelor’s in 2025, also from Duke. She was offered a research grant to study the preservation of nitrogen in legume fossils in Australia. 
  • Viviana Hammond ’26. A public policy and international comparative studies major from Middlebury, Vt., Vivana was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to the Canary Islands, Spain. 
  • Shelby Hartman ’26. An electrical and computer engineering major from Salt Lake City, Utah, Shelby was offered a study grant to Hsinchu, Taiwan, to complete a master’s degree in semiconductor technology at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. 
  • Reena Kagan ’26. A global health and neuroscience major from Boston, Mass., Reena was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to Colombia. 
  • Geethika Korrapati, ’26. A public policy major from Waxhaw, N.C., Geethika was offered a Fulbright-Nehru Open Study/Research Award to study citizen-led oversight programs in three different states across India. 
  • Karina Lu, ’26. A history major from Kirkland, Wash., Karina was offered a Fulbright/America for Bulgaria Foundation English Teaching Assistantship grant to Bulgaria. 
  • Sejal Mayer-Patel ’24. A public policy major from Durham, N.C., Sejal was offered a research grant to study migration governance and law in Semarang, Indonesia. 
  • Renee Muthakana, ’26. A graduate student in Duke’s applied ethics & policy program from Raleigh, N.C., Renee was offered a Fulbright-Nehru Open Study/Research Award to study the assisted reproductive technology sector in Hyderabad, India. 
  • Nicholas Nease ’26. A computer science and environmental science & policy major from Port Charlotte, Fla., Nicholas was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to southern Italy. 
  • Rakshita Ramakrishna ’25. A public policy major Stamford, Conn., Rakshita was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to Muğla, Türkiye. 
  • Morgan Settle ’26. A public policy major from both Raleigh and Manila, Philippines, Morgan was offered an English Teaching Assistantship grant to Albania. 
  • Emily Xu ’25. A neuroscience major from Cary, N.C., Emily received an English Teaching Assistantship grant to Changhua, Taiwan.

Duke-affiliated applicants may apply as early as the summer before senior year, and for up to six years after graduating with an undergraduate degree. Graduate students may apply as long as they will not receive their doctorate until after completion of the Fulbright grant.
