Utility Work to Start March 24 Near Krzyzewskiville

Expect minimal pedestrian impacts as work unfolds near Card Gymnasium and Cameron Indoor Stadium

As part of a multi-year project to upgrade the infrastructure on West Campus, there will be utility work done in the coming months work near Cameron Indoor Stadium, Card Gymnasium and Krzyzewskiville.

Starting March 24, 2026, Duke Facilities Management will oversee the updating of stormwater systems and underground sanitation and power systems serving nearby buildings. The project is expected to be completed in early September.

While there will be minimal pedestrian impacts while the work is unfolding, there will be signage and alternate routes available to ensure accessibility. All open sidewalks in the work areas will meet ADA minimum-width requirements, with some featuring temporary asphalt patches and road plates. Parking and traffic in the area will be unaffected.

Duke Reunions

The sidewalk between Card Gymnasium and Krzyzewskiville will be closed. The work areas will include the northwest corner of Card Gymnasium, the west end of Krzyzewskiville and a wooded area west of the Card Gymnasium Lot.

Blue Devil Days

The sidewalk between Card Gymnasium and Krzyzewskiville will remain closed. The work areas will include the northwest corner of Card Gymnasium, the south and east edges of Krzyzewskiville, an east entrance to Cameron Indoor Stadium and a wooded area west of the Card Gymnasium Lot.

Commencement

The work areas will include the northwest corner of Card Gymnasium and the south and east edges of Krzyzewskiville.

Durham High School Graduations

The work areas will include the northeast corner of Cameron Indoor Stadium and the northwest corner of Card Gymnasium. 

Duke Family Farewell and New Student Convocation

The work areas will include the north and northeast corner of Cameron Indoor Stadium and the northwest corner of Card Gymnasium.
