Update on Duke Health Negotiations with Aetna

Duke Health is currently negotiating a new agreement with Aetna to protect patients’ access to Duke Health and receive fair reimbursement for the expert, complex care only Duke Health can provide. If unable to reach a fair agreement, the current contract with Aetna will end on Monday, October 20, and Duke Health will be considered out-of-network for patients with Aetna insurance.

Importantly, this negotiation will not impact Duke employees. Duke medical plans are managed under a separate Aetna agreement that is not included in the current negotiations.
