Noor and Oates to Serve in Interim Vice Provost Roles
The pair will assume Executive Vice Provost Jennifer Francis’s current responsibilities during her service as interim provost
Mohamed Noor and Amy Oates will fulfill the duties of executive vice provost Jennifer Francis on an interim basis, Francis and Provost Sally Kornbluth announced today. The pair will assume Francis’s current duties while she serves as interim provost following Kornbluth’s upcoming departure to lead the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Noor will serve as vice provost for academic affairs, leading the university’s academic program development and management. A Duke faculty member since 2005, he previously served as chair of the department of biology and as dean of natural sciences. Noor is currently interim dean of Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, a role that will conclude when Gary Bennett begins his term as dean in early February.
Oates will serve as vice provost for finance and administration, overseeing human resources, finance and faculty affairs activities within the Provost’s area. Oates previously served in senior finance and administration roles within the Provost’s area for more than 20 years, retiring in 2020 as associate vice provost for budget and finance.
