New 2020 Changemaker Award Announced for Entire Duke Community

The Duke Alumni Association is looking to the Duke community to help identify the “changemakers” taking effective action in Durham and throughout the world. It’s new 2020 Changemaker Award is a one-time award honoring students, faculty, staff and alumni who implemented change in an unprecedented 2020 year.

The award will focus on contributions in three areas:

  • COVID-19: Contributions to healthcare advancements and medical research, treating patients on the frontline and global humanitarian efforts
  • Social Justice: Advancing social justice, anti-racism and the fight against racial inequality
  • Gender Equality: Furthering efforts to realize gender equality and celebrate the full spectrum of humanity.

From frontline healthcare workers showing up every day to do their jobs to students who are mobilizing movements—candidates for the 2020 Changemaker Award inspire the Duke community to do and be better. Nominees need not be top leaders in their communities, or industries. We are looking for a wide variety of student, faculty, staff and alumni who represent diverse contributions.
