Coach K Inteviews Dr. Anthony Fauci, 'America's Point Guard'

This week, Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski had a former point guard on his national radio show: Dr. Anthony Fauci, a physician and immunologist who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and currently one of the lead members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force,

On “Basketball and Beyond with Coach K” radio show, broadcast Sirius/XM radio, Krzyzewski introduced Fauci as “America’s point guard” during a discussion of Fauci’s work in helping the country fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the interview, Fauci said, “The highest priority is to protect those brave health care workers who are on the front line.”

He cautioned that “right now, we just want to hold our own, get to halftime and come out in the second half blazing. Otherwise this stuff is going to be really, really harmful to us as a society.”

But Fauci also told Krzyzewski that he held optimism: “We are going to get through this. This going to end. We’re suffering terribly, but this is going to end.”

The broadcast was made available to the public. Listen to it here. (SiriusXM has made this special interview open to the general public, although from a smartphone it may require downloading the Sirius app. On a computer, If requested, click on free preview.)
