Eric Oberstein Wins Grammy in Latin Jazz Category

Eric Oberstein Eric Oberstein, interim director of Duke Performances, took home his third Grammy Award Sunday night as producer of the album “Back to the Sunset,” performed by the Dafnis Prieto Big Band, which won in the Best Latin Jazz album category.

Oberstein previously had won Grammy Awards in 2015 and 2016 for his work as producer for  Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.  His work with O’Farrill also has received several Latin Grammy Awards.

A native of Queens, NY, Oberstein got into the music industry as a Duke undergraduate following a “Duke in New York” semester, where he interned at the Jazz at the Lincoln Center program. After graduation in 2007, he started work with O’Farrill as an intern.

Duke Performances will present the Dafnis Prieto Big Band at Baldwin Auditorium on Friday, March 29
