Duke Hosting Two-Day Conference on Ending Gerrymandering

Experts will discuss the latest redistricting reform efforts, 2020 census implications and other relevant topics.

A two-day conference on ending partisan gerrymandering will bring together 150-200 experts and advocates from throughout the country Jan. 25-26 at Duke University.

Hosted by Duke University’s Center for Political Leadership, Innovation, and Service (POLIS), the conference will focus on the latest redistricting reform efforts, 2020 census implications and other relevant topics. Notable participants at the Reason, Reform & Redistricting Conference will include Congressman David Price (D-NC) and Tom Ross, the former president of the University of North Carolina system.

The event will take place in Penn Pavilion on Duke’s West Campus. Members of the public can register online here. Cost of attendance is $50 per attendee. Students can attend for free and register here.

Several public parking facilities are available along Science Drive on Duke’s West Campus.  More information can be found here: https://parking.duke.edu/visitor.

The conference will consist of 14 sessions on topics ranging from racial equity and advocacy for reform in North Carolina to recent reform victories in other states.

“As the Supreme Court prepares to hear the North Carolina gerrymandering case, this is an important moment for experts and leaders on gerrymandering to share and learn from each other,” said Fritz Mayer, POLIS director and professor of public policy.

The event is co-sponsored by Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy and Common Cause.U
