Tropical Storm Michael downed several trees on East and West campus with gusts of 50-60 mph, including three large 70-80-year-old post oak trees that blocked the runningtrail and downed a power line on N. Buchanan Blvd. near Minerva Avenueon East Campus. A large tree trunk also came down and brushed the Few Building on West Campus, but didn't do any damage.

"Florence, we got a lot of rain, and Michael, we got a lot of wind," said Roger Conner, project coordinator of landscape services. "For an hour and a half we had heavy winds. We're lucky that this is happening in the lesser populated areas and not next to the buildings."
