Attempted Sexual Assault Reported Off-Campus (Updated)

UPDATED Friday, June 1, 2018: Durham police arrested Isadore Sullivan Jr., 35, of Durham this evening in connection with this case. He has been charged with attempted first-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and felony breaking and entering. Sullivan was also charged with carrying a concealed gun.

A female graduate student living in an off-campus apartment near Duke University Road reported an attempted sexual assault by unknown assailant late Thursday morning.

The student reported that an individual, claiming to be at the apartment for a repair, came into the apartment and pulled out a handgun. She managed to escape unharmed.

The suspect is described as a black, male about 35-40 years old and about 6’2” tall. He was described as heavyset with a thin mustache and unshaven. The suspect wore a dark blue t-shirt with white lettering, black knee-length shorts and black sneakers. He displayed a gray colored handgun.
