Transit, Parking Options to Adjust for Winter Break

Bus schedules will change around Christmas and New Year’s

Duke Parking and Transportation Services will adjust portions of its transit schedule and parking lot availability during winter break, from Dec. 18 to Jan. 7.

From Dec. 18 through Dec. 21, Dec. 26 through Dec. 28, and Jan. 2 through Jan. 5, all H Routes, PR1 and Duke Vans will operate on their usual schedule.  On these days the LaSalle Loop (LL)and CCX route will operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be no H, LL, PR1 or Duke Vans service on the campus holidays: Dec. 22, 25, 29 and Jan. 1.  Limited CCX service will be offered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 22 and Dec. 29.

All transit routes and Duke Vans service will resume their regular schedule on Jan. 8. The winter break bus schedule is available at the Parking and Transportation website.

Parking facility availability during winter break will also be adjusted as follows:

  • Friday, Dec. 22 to Monday, Dec. 25:  Employee, student and affiliate motorists with active Duke permits may park in all garages and gated lots by using their permit or DukeCard to access the gates. On Monday, Dec. 25, all facilities will be open for complimentary parking.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 26 to Thursday, Dec. 28:  Beginning at 4 a.m. Dec. 26, all garages and all gated surface lots will resume normal operations.
  • Friday, Dec. 29 to Monday, Jan. 1:  Employee, student and affiliate motorists with active Duke permits may park in all garages and gated lots by using their permit or DukeCard to access the gates.  On Monday, Jan. 1, all facilities will be open for complimentary parking.
  • Tuesday Jan. 2:  Beginning at 4 a.m. Jan 2, all garages and gated lots will resume normal operations. 

The Parking and Transportation Services office at Room 04230, Duke Clinic, will be open through Dec. 21 and Dec. 26 through Dec. 28.  The Science Drive Garage office will be closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 1.  The offices will resume their normal schedules on Jan. 2.
