Student Injured in Off-campus Incident

Duke officials received details Monday morning regarding a report of a graduate student who received minor injuries Sunday night when he was hit by a projectile from a moving car off campus. 

According to the Durham Police, the student was walking along Campus Walk Avenue near LaSalle Street about 10 p.m. when he was struck in the abdomen by a projectile from a passing car. The three occupants of the car were heard laughing as they passed. 

The student was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment and was later released in good condition.

Durham Police are investigating the incident. The vehicle involved in the incident was described as a grey or black sedan.
