Power Outage Affects Downtown Durham

Update (12:35 p.m.): Power has been restored in downtown Durham. 

Original story: Duke Energy reported a power outage in downtown Durham on Thursday morning that affects approximately 13,000 customers. Officials estimate power should be restored around 1:15 p.m.

Duke officials currently are assessing the impact to office and lab space downtown. Duke has about 3,500 employees working downtown. Both the American Tobacco Campus and the Durham Centre, where Duke Clinic Research Institute leases space, report still having power.

Network connectivity as well as VoIP phone service maybe unavailable in some downtown Durham locations due to the power outage.
