From Undergraduate to Dean: Dr. Mary Klotman Describes What She Has Learned at Duke

The new School of Medicine dean has deep roots at the university

Dr. Mary Klotman  -- a nationally renowned physician-scientist and academic leader who has served as chair of Duke’s Department of Medicine for almost seven years, took over as dean of the Duke School of Medicine on July l.

Klotman's connections to Duke run deep. She received her undergraduate degree in zoology, then earned her medical degree and completed her residency here, before coming back as chair of the Department of Medicine. In the video, she talks about how Duke has shaped her career at each stage of her educational and professional development.

She replaces Dr. Nancy Andrews, who held the post for almost a decade.
