Lanes in Areas of Erwin and Elba To Close During Construction
Allow for extra travel time on Erwin Road and Elba Street on weekends through mid-August
Beginning Friday, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Erwin Road and Emergency Drive for utility work.
The chilled water construction project also includes closing a section of Elba Street in both directions over a weekend in mid-August.
Duke community members should allow for extra travel time on Erwin Road and Elba Street over the following weekends:
Friday, July 21 to Monday, July 24
The north side of Erwin Road at Emergency Drive will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. The south lane of Erwin Road will remain open to traffic in both directions.
Friday, August 4 to Monday August 7
The south side of Erwin Road at Emergency Drive will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. The north lane of Erwin Road will remain open to traffic in both directions.
Friday, August 18 to Monday, August 21
Elba Street will be closed in both directions between Trent Drive and the entry to Parking Garage 2 from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Duke parking permit holders will be able to enter and exit Parking Garage 2 during construction. Detours will be in place to take motorists around the work on Elba Street.
All areas will have flag crews to assist with navigation.
