Six Selected For Reginaldo Howard Memorial Scholarships

Award covers full tuition, room, board, mandatory fees for eight semesters at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. -- Six incoming first-year students have been awarded the Reginaldo Howard Memorial Scholarship at Duke University. The award covers full tuition, room, board and mandatory fees for eight semesters at Duke, for an estimated value of more than $260,000 each over four years.

The award is given to students who embody the qualities of Reginaldo Howard, Duke’s first African-American student government president, including a commitment to academic achievement, leadership, community service and social justice.

The Class of 2021 recipients are:

-- Charity Agasaro of Kigali, Rwanda, a graduate of Bridge2Rwanda Scholars and daughter of Jane Uwantege and Munyaneza Muzungu;

-- Katlyn Hurst of Memphis, Tennessee, a graduate of White Station High School and daughter of Eunice Sutton and Samuel Hurst;

-- Eric Little of Liverpool, New York, a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and son of Susan Little and Kim Little;

-- Sydney McKinney of Atlanta, Georgia, a graduate of Chamblee Charter High School and daughter of Valerie Johnson and Anthony McKinney;

-- Victoria Pannell of New York, New York, a graduate of Democracy Prep Harlem and daughter of Mary Pannell;

-- Quinton Simmonds of Los Angeles, California, a graduate of Harvard-Westlake School and daughter of Michelle Simmonds and Paul Simmonds
