Spring Team Student-Athletes Graduate in Special Ceremony Monday

While most seniors were in Wallace Wade Stadium receiving their degrees Sunday morning, members of several Duke sports teams were traveling or competing. They missed out on the ceremony.

Instead, members of the lacrosse, rowing, baseball, track & field and golf teams received their own smaller ceremony Monday in Wilson Gym, where Dean of Undergraduate Education Steve Nowicki and others spoke to the 22 senior-athletes receiving their degrees.

Last year, Duke sports team showed a 97 percent graduation rate within six years of the student’s admission, one of the highest in the country. 13 teams had a perfect 100 percent graduation rate.
