Opera by the Numbers: Workshop Concert To Showcase Student Singers in Different Combinations

If you love opera or math, the Duke Opera Workshop has the concert for you this weekend. 

Duke student vocalists in the workshop will perform opera scenes involving arias, duos, trios, quartets and other vocal combinations with costumes and staging in “Opera by the Numbers.” The free, public concert will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in Baldwin Auditorium.

Featuring Duke student vocalists Meredyth Albright, Hooman Azad, Katherine Berko, Vasco Botelho, Sophie Caplin, Eric Cheng, Onastasia Ebright, Thandolwethu Mamba, Jemeesa Yarbrough, and Mycroft Zimmerman, with additional music by Kiyoon Ko, Caroline Wang, and Nicole Yoon.  Piano accompaniment will be by David Heid.

Scenes will be drawn from The Coronation of Poppea, The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, The Pearl Fishers, and La Boheme, and arias from Handel's Ariodante, La Boheme, Cosi fan Tutte, and La Traviata.
